“FRIDAY NIGHT THUNDER RAINED OUT FOR THE 4TH TIME IN 5 WEEKS
By Mike Leone
April 29, 2011 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Hartford, OH)…Like a broken record on Friday nights, rainy, windy, and cold weather has forced the postponement of “Friday Night Thunder at Sharon Speedway for the fourth time in the first five weeks of racing. With the rain out, there will be “Friday Night Thunder now next Friday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m.
“I’ve never seen a spring like this before, stated second year GM Dave Willoughby. “Not only are we fighting the rain, but the cold weather and the grounds just won’t dry up with the persistent rains throughout the week. I feel bad for the Friday night guys, but we’ll try again next Friday night even though we weren’t originally scheduled to race.
Good weather is forecasted for Saturday’s “Steel Valley Thunder featuring the Governor Insurance Agency Big-Block Modifieds, Barris Supply FASTRAK Late Models, Ainsley 500 Heating & Cooling E-Mods, Gibson Agency Stock Cars, and the Presidential Lawn Care Mini Stocks. Race time is 7 p.m. Last Saturday’s parking procedure may be instituted once again due to the wet grounds.
Sharon Speedway is owned by the Blaney, Weller, and Kirila Families and is a 3/8-mile dirt track located on Custer-Orangeville Road in Hartford, Ohio near the intersection of Routes 7 & 305.
