RAIN WASHES OUT ENTIRE WEEKEND AT SHARON

By Mike Leone

May 14, 2011 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Hartford, OH)…Rains that washed out Friday’s program continued throughout the day and night and with rain already falling on Saturday and more predicted throughout the weekend, Sharon Speedway has went ahead and cancelled Saturday’s “Steel Valley Thunder program and Sunday’s rain date.

“This has been a very frustrating year with Mother Nature, stated second year GM Dave Willoughby. “Here we are halfway through May and we’ve only completed one Friday night show and have yet to get both days in on any weekend. We’ve been very happy when we’ve gotten to race on Saturdays, but it’s been a battle just about every night with the weather.

Sharon will try again next weekend for another doubleheader weekend. Friday, May 20 will feature the Ti22 Performance Outlaw Sprint Warriors, Summit Racing Equipment Econo Mods, Joe’s Radiator/Uni-Tech Frame Straightening Mod Lites, Micro Sprints, Uni-Tech Frame Straightening/Joe’s Radiator Sportsman Dwarf Cars, and the Mini Late Models along with make-up features for Sprints, Micro Sprints, and Sportsman Dwarf Cars. Race time is 7:30 p.m.

Then on Saturday, May 21 it’s “Steel Valley Thunder presented by Warehouse Sales featuring the Governor Insurance Agency Big-Block Modifieds, Barris Supply FASTRAK Late Models, Ainsley 500 Heating & Cooling E-Mods, Gibson Insurance Agency Stock Cars, and the Presidential Lawn Care Mini Stocks. It’ll be Armed Forces Night with free general admission for all veterans and active servicemen. Race time is 7 p.m.

Sharon Speedway is owned by the Blaney, Weller, and Kirila Families and is a 3/8-mile dirt track located on Custer-Orangeville Road in Hartford, Ohio near the intersection of Routes 7 & 305.
