(Hartford, OH)…After waiting out periods of showers throughout the day, a clearing radar and positive forecast late afternoon prompted Sharon Speedway officials to go on with the May 27 “Friday Night Thunder program; however, a cell formed over the track around 6 p.m. and after an hour of rain, Speedway officials were forced to postpone the event. The rainout marked the seventh in nine tries this year on Friday nights.
Due to staffing commitments next Friday night, the May 27 program has been rescheduled to Friday, June 17. “Friday Night Thunder will take place as scheduled on Friday, June 10 and will include the three leftover May 6 make-up features for the Summit Racing Equipment Econo Mods, Joe’s Radiator/Uni-Tech Frame Straightening Mod Lites, and the Mini Late Models. In addition to those three division’s regularly scheduled races, the Ti22 Performance Outlaw Sprint Warriors, Micro Sprints, and Uni-Tech Frame Straightening/Joe’s Radiator Sportsman Dwarf Cars will also be on the card.
Action still is on schedule for Saturday night’s (May 28) Bill Emig Memorial “Wild Card Weekend event featuring the Barris Supply FASTRAK Late Models in a $1,500 to-win Northeast Touring Series event along with the Ainsley 500 Heating & Cooling E-Mods for $1,000 to-win, Gibson Insurance Agency Stock Cars for $500 to-win, and the Presidential Lawn Care Mini Stocks for $200 to-win. It is the American Cancer Benefit Night put on by Tori Martin. Race time is 7 p.m.
