(Hartford, OH)…After some two inches of rain fell Thursday night coupled with morning showers and rain in the forecast throughout the day and night, Sharon Speedway has been forced to cancel the June 24 “Friday Night Thunder program. The cancellation marked the seventh event lost out of 12 tries thus far on Friday nights in 2011.
Action still is on schedule for Saturday night’s (June 25) Gary Knollinger Memorial event featuring the Barris Supply FASTRAK Late Models in a $2,000 to-win Northeast Touring Series event along with the Ainsley 500 Heating & Cooling E-Mods for $750 to-win, Gibson Insurance Agency Stock Cars for $500 to-win, and the Presidential Lawn Care Mini Stocks for $200 to-win. Race time is 7 p.m.
There will be no racing over the Fourth of July Weekend. The next “Friday Night Thunder program will take place on Friday, July 8. Due to low car counts ranging between five and seven all season, the Outlaw Sprint Warriors have been dropped from the Friday night card and have been replaced by the 358 Modifieds, which currently compete at Mercer Raceway Park on Saturday nights and Sportsman’s Speedway on Sunday nights.
If the support is there, the 358 Modifieds will be added to the “Friday Night Thunder program on a permanent basis to join up with the Summit Racing Equipment Econo Mods, Joe’s Radiator & Uni-Tech Frame Straightening Mod Lites, Micro Sprints, Uni-Tech Frame Straightening Sportsman Dwarf Cars, and the Mini Late Models. Race time is 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday, July 9, the Governor Insurance Agency Big-Block Modifieds are back as “Steel Valley Thunder returns with the FASTRAK Late Models, E-Mods, Stock Cars, and Mini Stocks on “Heroes Night presented by Boundary Systems and Greenville Savings Bank.
