ECONO MODS ADDED TO JUNE 25 PROGRAM

By Mike Leone

June 24, 2011 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Hartford, OH)… Sharon Speedway has announced that the Summit Racing Equipment Econo Mods have been added to this Saturday's (June 25) racing program. The Econo Mods are featured on the bi-weekly “Friday Night Thunder program, but with seven rainouts in 12 nights, it was decided to add the growing division to Saturday’s program with the Governor Insurance Agency Big-Block Modifieds having the night off.

In its second season, the Econo Mod car counts have continued to grow with an all-time high 16 in the pit area last Friday night and 17 different cars competing in the five completed events! Saturday will be the first time ever that the Econo Mods have participated on the Saturday night program.

Junior Mechling is the division’s current point leader, but has yet to win a feature. To date this season, Alan Dellinger was a two-time winner before turning the reigns over to his son Derek, while Todd Canter, Brandon Blackshear, and Jamie Scharba have also been in victory lane.

The Econo Mods will join the Barris Supply FASTRAK Late Models in the Gary Knollinger Memorial Northeast Touring Series event paying $2,000 to-win along with the Ainsley 500 Heating & Cooling E-Mods for $750 to-win, Gibson Insurance Agency Stock Cars for $500 to-win, and the Presidential Lawn Care Mini Stocks for $200 to-win. Race time is 7 p.m. Regular grandstand admission prices will be in effect with $30 pit passes.

Sharon Speedway is owned by the Blaney, Weller, and Kirila Families and is a 3/8-mile dirt track located on Custer-Orangeville Road in Hartford, Ohio near the intersection of Routes 7 & 305.
