SHARON HOPES FOR A RETURN OF GOOD WEATHER SATURDAY FOR “STEEL VALLEY THUNDER; YOUTH SPORTS & SCOUT NIGHT
By Mike Leone

May 3, 2012

(Hartford, OH)…After three straight rainy, cold Saturdays that wiped out racing action the past three weekends, Sharon Speedway, fans and racers are hoping for better weather this Saturday (May 5) as another installment of “Steel Valley Thunder returns featuring the Governor Insurance Agency DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, Barris Supply FASTRAK Late Models, Gibson Insurance Agency Stock Cars, Summit Racing Equipment Econo Mods, HTMA/Precise Racing Products Econo Mods and the Deforest Used Parts Mini Stocks. It's Bob & Chuch Eddy Night. Race time is 7 p.m.

Saturday’s promotions are the rescheduled scouts and youth sport participants in uniform from one week ago. The RAD Racing Night has been rescheduled to Saturday, June 2.

April 7 opening night winners and early point leaders are Kevin Bolland-DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, George Kowatic-FASTRAK Late Models, Brent Rhebergen-E-Mods, Paul Davis-Stock Cars, Brad Blackshear-Econo Mods, and Jim Haefke, Jr.-Mini Stocks.

“There isn’t much you can do with Mother Nature, stated third year GM Dave Willoughby. “Not only has it been rainy, but it’s been cold as well. It’s frustrating after such nice weather we had before racing season and then during the week. I know everyone is anxious to get back to the track. Hopefully we’ll be able to get our show in Saturday. It’s going to much warmer with just a chance of an isolated thunderstorm.

Pits open at 4 p.m. with grandstands at 5. Race time is 7 p.m. Adult admission is $13 and pit passes are $25. Students 13 and under are always free.

Sharon Speedway is owned by the Blaney, Weller, and Kirila Families and is a 3/8-mile dirt track located on Custer-Orangeville Road in Hartford, Ohio near the intersection of Routes 7 & 305.
