(Hartford, OH)…Sharon Speedway is proud to announce Hovis Auto & Truck Supply will be the 2014 divisional sponsor of the DIRTcar Big-Block Modified division. Hovis has been a longtime sponsor of the speedway including victory lane and will now step-up and present the Speedway's headlining division for the new year. Also, as part of the 85th anniversary celebration, Hovis will also giveaway six pit passes each night!
After an open practice and Enduro on Saturday, March 22, the first official green flag of the season will take place on Saturday, April 19 led by the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds along with the Barris Supply RUSH Late Models, Summit Racing Equipment Modifieds, Gibson Insurance Agency Stock Cars, HTMA/Precise Racing Products Econo Mods, and the Deforest Used Parts Mini Stocks.
The Hovis Auto & Truck Supply DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds will be on the schedule 23 times in 2014 highlighted by the July 30 $2,000 to-win "Lou Blaney Memorial" and the September 13 "Russ King Memorial" for the BRP Tour. Jim Weller, Jr. is set to defend his title in search of his fourth career championship. Rex King, Jr., who finished runner-up and won the Lou Blaney "Drive to be a Champion" title, will look to earn his first ever track championship.
The second part of Hovis' program is the six nightly pit pass giveaways. At each event, one fan, one DIRTcar Big-Block Modified driver, and one driver in one of the other divisions will each win a pair of pit passes for the following week's event! A program will be announced to determine the nightly DIRTcar Big-Block Modified winner of the pit passes. The night's other division giveaway will rotate weekly generally for the division that races first in the program and will be by a drawing of a feature finishing position. The fan giveaway will simply be a drawing from the rain checks.
"I'm real excited about Hovis increasing their involvement at the speedway and this new pit pass giveaway program," stated GM Dave Willoughby. "Cliff Hovis has been a longtime supporter of auto racing and has been a fan of the Big-Block Modifieds for years. This is a great way for him to get his name out in a major way on a weekly basis and to give back to the sport that he truly loves."
Hovis Auto & Truck Wrecking was first opened as a family business in 1952. By 1969 Hovis had grown to include new parts sales, and Hovis Auto & Truck Supply was formed.
