(Hartford, OH)…For the second straight week, Sharon Speedway has been forced to cancel their racing program. With a shield of rain already pushing into Ohio during the morning hours and steady rain expected throughout the evening, Sharon made the decision to postpone the "Steel Valley Thunder" opener until Saturday, May 7.
After a successful 2015 "Apple Festival Nationals" make-up to start the 87th anniversary season on April 16, rain washed out the inaugural appearance of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on April 22 and now pushes the "Steel Valley Thunder" opener back one week.
Racing on Saturday, May 7 will feature the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, Summit Racing Equipment Modifieds, Lyden/Red Line Oil RUSH Sportsman Modifieds, HTMA/Precise Racing Products Econo Mods, Deforest Used Parts Mini Stocks along with the kickoff of the five-race Penn-Ohio Mini Series for the Gibson Insurance Agency Stock Cars that will pay $1,000 to-win. Pits open at 4 p.m. with grandstands at 5 and racing at 7.
Sharon Speedway is owned by the Blaney, Weller, and Kirila Families and is a 3/8-mile dirt track located on Custer-Orangeville Road in Hartford, Ohio near the intersection of Routes 7 & 305.
