(Hartford, OH)…After completing 10 straight race events, luck ran out on Sharon Speedway on Saturday as the FREE Fan Appreciation & Autograph Night were cancelled due to inclement weather. It marked the first rain out since May 21 when ironically the original FREE Fan Appreciation & Autograph Night was scheduled. Due to the lateness of the season, the promotion will not be rescheduled in 2016.
“It’s a shame we lost our Fan Appreciation Night, stated Sharon GM Dave Willoughby. “It’s been a great promotion for us in the past, but the situation just wasn’t conducive tonight. Even though we missed the early rains, the forecast for later this afternoon and evening was not good and with storms firing west of Akron we decided to unfortunately make the decision. Hopefully we’ll get good weather for it in 2017.
Racing resumes next Saturday (August 6) for the “Bill Kirila Memorial on Thompson Fabrication Night as it’ll be a full night of racing in the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, Summit Racing Equipment Modifieds, Lyden/Red Line Oil RUSH Sportsman Modifieds, Gibson Insurance Agency Stock Cars, HTMA/Precise Racing Products Econo Mods, and Deforest Used Parts Mini Stocks. Admission is just $10. Racing gets underway at 7 p.m.
Sharon Speedway is owned by the Blaney, Weller, and Kirila Families and is a 3/8-mile dirt track located on Custer-Orangeville Road in Hartford, Ohio near the intersection of Routes 7 & 305.
