(Hartford, OH)…After completing 10 straight race events this summer, luck has run out on Sharon Speedway as the wet weather from the spring has returned forcing the second cancellation in the past three weeks on Saturday night and marked the sixth of the 2016 season. With forecasts calling for 80-100% likelihood of heavy rain and thunderstorms later this afternoon and evening, the decision was made to cancel early to save everyone unnecessary travel expense. Saturday’s event was to include the “410 Sprint Cars. They have now been added to the September 10 show due to no “410 Sprint Car events scheduled the entire weekend in western Pa. and eastern Ohio.
Coming up next weekend will be a doubleheader of events starting with Friday (August 19) for “Summer Jam & BBQ Series IV featuring “Thunderstruck- an AC/DC tribute band. Gates will open at 7 p.m. with entertainment from 8-11. Admission is just $5.
Then on Saturday (August 20) “Steel Valley Thunder racing resumes on Mark Thomas Ford Night for the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, Gibson Insurance Agency Stock Cars in another $1,000 to-win Penn-Ohio Mini Series event, Summit Racing Equipment Modifieds, Lyden/Red Line Oil RUSH Sportsman Modifieds, HTMA/Precise Racing Products Econo Mods, and Deforest Used Parts Mini Stocks. Admission is just $10. Racing gets underway at 7 p.m.
“Steel Valley Thunder racing continues on August 27 in the final night of points for the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds and Stock Cars. There will be no racing over Labor Day weekend. The reformatted September 10 event will now include “410 Sprint Cars, Big-Block Modifieds, (E) Modifieds, Econo Mods, and Mini Stocks for $13 grandstand admission. This will be the final night of points for the four competing weekly divisions. The season will conclude on September 16-17 for the “Apple Festival Nationals. More on this event will be released soon.
