(Hartford, OH)…After having great weather for both the Ohio Speedweek and Lou Blaney Memorial events in June and July for the “410 Sprint Cars, Sharon Speedway was forced to cancel the non-sanctioned Sprint Car event for the second straight time on Saturday. Saturday was also to include the final night of points for the Big-Block Modifieds, Modifieds, Econo Mods, and Mini Stocks, to be cancelled. It marked the seventh rain out of the 2016 season.

Sharon will wrap up the 87th anniversary season next Friday and Saturday, September 16-17 with the annual “Apple Festival Nationals. Friday will feature a complete show for Big-Block Modified drivers that have never won a big-block feature in their career paying $1,700 to-win in the “Johnny Zdelar Memorial. The Mod Lites, Sportsman Dwarf Cars, and Junior Sprints will also run a complete show. Preliminary action will take place for the RUSH Late Model and Sportsman Modified Touring Series, Renegades of Dirt Modifieds, Penn-Ohio Stock Cars, Econo Mods, and Mini Stocks. Then on Saturday, the Big-Block Modifieds are back for the “Russ King Memorial for the Mod Tour along with the completion of the show for those divisions that ran heat races on Friday. Racing begins early at 6 p.m. both days.
