Rain wins again Saturday (5/4) washing out the 1st appearance by the All Star Sprints & RUSH Sprints

(Hartford, OH)…Despite a saturated facility, some drizzle around the lunch hour and temperatures only in the mid 50s, Sharon Speedway forged on with the Ollie's Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars and non-wing RUSH Sprint Car program on Saturday night with just a 20% chance of precipitation.  The track surface was still in good condition and Speedway staff used the alternate parking plan with cars utilizing the old asphalt track inside the facility.  Light showers though began shortly after 5 p.m.  After waiting 90 minutes and with rain expected to continue for a few hours, the decision was made to reluctantly cancel the event.  Despite the conditions, at least 45 All Star Sprint Cars and 18 RUSH Sprint Cars had signed in.

Rain checks will be honored for the next All Star events for Ohio Speedweek on Tuesday, June 18 or the "Lou Blaney Memorial" on Saturday, July 6. Those that purchased tickets online will be refunded your money to the credit card used to make the purchase.  For any questions, contact the track office at 330-772-5481.

Sharon will look to get the 90th anniversary season underway now next Saturday (May 11) for the first of two appearance by the FAST "410" Sprint Car Series racing for $3,000 to-win along with the conclusion of the 2018 "Apple Festival Nationals" that was rained out on September 8 with last chance B mains and features for the Penn-Ohio Pro Stocks ($2,000 to-win), RUSH Sportsman Modified Tour ($800 to-win), and Econo Mods ($750 to-win). New cars are permitted to tag the B mains.  Pits will open at 4 p.m., grandstands at 5 with warm-ups slated for 6 followed by group qualifying for the Sprints and racing at 7.

Sharon Speedway is owned by the Blaney, Weller, and Kirila Families and is a 3/8-mile dirt track located on Custer-Orangeville Road in Hartford, Ohio near the intersection of Routes 7 & 305.
