Rain hits during heat race action washing out the remainder of the program for the 6th time this season at Sharon

(Hartford, OH)…Despite a very small chance of an isolated thunderstorm on Saturday night, Sharon Speedway was in the wrong place at the wrong time as a storm developed and took direct aim at the track during the heat races and washed out the remainder of the program.  It marked the sixth time this season that rain has hit while race teams and fans have been on the grounds.

All pit bands will be good for any remaining Menards "Super Series" event, while grandstand rain checks will be good for the next two Saturday night events.  The 32 HTMA/Precise Racing Products RUSH Sportsman Modified drivers and 27 Gibson Insurance Agency Stock Cars in the weekly divisions that were on hand will receive 10 show-up points.  A make-up date for the Outlaw Mod "Bickerstaff Cup" Series event is possible.

Chad Ruhlman and Brian Woodhall won the RUSH Sprint Car heats. Randy White and Stone Lapcevich captured the Junior Sprint heats for kids with a record car count of 15.  Jackson Humanic won the first Stock Car heat race, while rain came during the second one.

Coming up this Saturday night (July 27) will be the return of the "410" Sprint Cars in a $3,000 to-win Menards "Super Series" event along with the Stock Cars, Elite Econo Mod Series, RUSH Sportsman Modifieds, and Junior Sprints for kids. It's Texas Roadhouse Night with racing at 7 p.m.

Then on Tuesday, July 30 will be the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds racing for $7,500 and they will be joined by the RUSH Sprint Cars. Predator Trucking and Stackhouse Construction are presenting the event.  Advanced tickets are on sale at SharonSpeedway.com.

Sharon Speedway is owned by the Blaney, Weller, and Kirila Families and is a 3/8-mile dirt track located on Custer-Orangeville Road in Hartford, Ohio near the intersection of Routes 7 & 305.
