(Hartford, OH)…For the second time in seven days, Mother Nature has claimed a special race event at Sharon Speedway.  Heavy rains throughout the week have flooded the facility and with more rain forecasted throughout the day, track management was forced pull the plug on Saturday night's scheduled "Bill Forney Memorial".  In coordination with the RUSH Racing Series, the event has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 28.  The rain out marked the third in the past five scheduled nights of racing at Sharon and the fifth overall of the 92nd anniversary season.

The inaugural "Bill Forney Memorial" featuring the return of the RUSH Late Model Touring Series to Sharon for the first time since 2016 was scheduled to take place one year ago; however, COVID-19 restrictions forced the event to be postponed to 2021.  In addition to the $3,199 to-win event, the Canfield/Sharon Drivers Reunion (1949-1973) has also been rescheduled to August 28.  That night will also include the already scheduled Hovis Auto & Truck Supply UMP Mods, Terry Bowser Excavating RUSH Sprint Cars, the Gibson Insurance Agency Pro Stocks, and the HTMA/Precise Racing RUSH Sportsman Modifieds.

Coming up next Saturday (July 24) will be the return of the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply "410" Sprint Cars racing for $3,000 to-win plus the Pro Stocks, RUSH Sportsman Modifieds, and the Whelen Econo Mods.  General admission is $15.  Kids 13 and under are free.  Pit passes are $30.  Pits open at 4 p.m. with general admission gates at 5.  Group qualifying for the Sprints will take place at 6:30 p.m. with racing at 7.

Sharon Speedway is owned by the Blaney, Weller, and Kirila Families and is a 3/8-mile dirt track located on Custer-Orangeville Road in Hartford, Ohio near the intersection of Routes 7 & 305.  For more information, check out the website at www.sharonspeedway.com or call 330-772-5481.  Like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/sharonspeedway and follow us on Twitter @sharonspdwy.
